We believe exceptional people should get exceptional opportunities.
Sky High Ventures was created around a simple observation: there are exceptionally capable people at universities who could become outstanding founders, but very few are given the opportunity to find out.
The traditional route into entrepreneurship puts the burden on the individual to come up with an idea, find a team, learn how to build a company and somehow work out the rest.
We want to change that.
We identify opportunities. We select exceptional people. We form the teams. We provide the education and support. And then we give the founders responsibility for building the company.
We don’t want to teach people how to talk about entrepreneurship. We want to help them experience it.
Our approach
Practical education, real venture building.
The programme is demanding because we believe founders develop through responsibility and experience. Students are expected to spend at least 20 hours a week on their venture while continuing their studies.
We want them speaking to customers, testing ideas and making decisions as quickly as possible.
The first objective is not a perfect business plan. It’s evidence that someone will pay.
But we’re thinking beyond the first customer from the beginning. The opportunities we choose need to have the potential to become significant companies, with the ambition of building businesses capable of reaching £100m+ in annual turnover.
Our ambition
A venture studio capable of creating companies at significant scale.
The companies we develop will start small. They will begin with a customer problem, a founding team and the first version of a product or service.
But we are looking for opportunities with the potential to become £100m+ turnover companies. That’s why we care so much about the quality of the opportunity, the quality of the founding team and the speed at which they learn.
Our long-term ambition is to create the next generation of exceptional companies, with the ultimate goal of producing 10 unicorns in 10 years.
It’s an extremely difficult ambition. We think the only sensible way to pursue it is to start by finding exceptional people and giving them exceptional opportunities.
